Heavy Ewe Losses.
South Wairarapa sheep farmers are experiencing a most successful lambing season and although it is early as yet it is anticipated that percentages as high as 98 will be recorded in many cases. On the other hand mortality among ewes is very severe. Ewe losses from bearing trouble and sleeping sickness, particularly on hill country, are reported to be the heaviest for a number of years.
Sound-proof Doors. Laminated doors are to be placed in the new broadcasting studio which is at present being prepared for Station 2YH in Dalgety’s Building, Napier. The doors were made in Auckland, and will prevent the penetration of any outside sound into the various rooms. Felt lining assists in this part of the work, the whole of which presents a very pleasing appearance. Special lead cables, recognised as the best insulated type, are being employed for the carrying of electric light wires, while the wall boarding used has fireproof tendencies. In the lounge at the top of the stairs the walls, which are now being treated with masonite pressed wood and fibre accoustic boards, are to be covered with a special coloured distempei' to conform with the colour scheme adopted for the studios.
