TABLE TENNIS
SPORTS CLUB TOURNAMENT. WON BY WELLINGTON PLAYER. The Winter Sports Club members, who were not participating in the match with the Wellington Y.M.C.A. team last Saturday night, played in a singles handicap tournament. Among the players were: Misses R. Winter, A. McGovern, D. Croxton and N. Brown, Mrs S. Taylor, Messrs K. Brader, A. M. Sanson, L. Gleeson, M. G. Wing, A. G. Wiltshire, P. Thompson and Mr Skuse. The games were keenly contested and the final was played off between Miss Dawn Croxton, a visitor from Wellington and Mr L. Gleeson. Miss Croxton played brilliantly and won by two games to nil. At the conclusion of the competition a handsome trophy was presented to the winner by Mr J. Haywood, the club’s popular president. The handicapping and the control of the games were successfully attended to by Miss R. Winter and Mr M. Wing.
VISITORS SUPERIOR. WIN FOR WELLINGTON Y.M.C.A. In a table tennis match played in Masterton on Saturday night a Wellington Y.M.C.A. team proved too good for the Masterton Winter Sports Club representatives. The visitors won by 26 games to 10.
