TRADE WITH ITALY
BRITISH COAL EXPORTS INCREASING. (Recd This Day, 1.45 p.m.) LONDON, September 5. In view of the recent expansion of Italian trade, business circles attach importance to the surprise visit of the Italian Ambassador (Count Grand!) to South Welsh collieries. Welsh ports shipped 575,477 tons of coal to Italy in the first half of 1938, an increase of 224,664 tons over the corresponding period of 1937.
