COLOURFUL WRESTLING
BLOMFIELD BEATS NUMA. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. In a colourful wrestling bout at the Wellington Town Hall last night, Lofty Blomfield, the New Zealand professional heavyweight champion, beat Leo Numa,’'Seattle, U.S.A., by two falls to one. The contest was marked more by rough tactics than by straight wrestling. Blomfield obtained a fall with a boston crab in the fourth round, and Numa evened with his specialty ham-mer-throw in the sixth round. The seventh round was given over to straightout elbow jolting, and the crowded house was roused to a frenzy of enthusiasm as the wrestlers bowled each other over like ninepins. It was a case of the survival of the fittest, and Blomfield was the fitter, as, although both were so groggy they could scarcely stand, fighting spirit kept Blomfield jolting, and eventually the American wilted and Blomfield obtained the deciding fall.
