MASTERTON CLUB. t P. RUSSELL WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. A successful termination of the season was held on Saturday afternoon and evening when the club’s championship was contested. The conditions were three ten shot matches with the top ten scorers firing a further ten shots, making the grand total 400. With the three matches completed H. King was leading with a score of 298 followed by P. Russell and W. Dornan two points behind. Russell, who scored a brilliant 99 in the final, tied with King and in the subsequent shoot off Russell was successful in defeating him for the club championship. The following are the scores of the final ten:—P. Russell, 296, (99), 385; H. King, 298, (97), 395; H. K. Smith, 295, (99), 394; Mrs King, 294, (98), 392; W. Dornan, 296, (95), 391; H. Cross, 292, (99), 391; V. E. Donald, 294, (96), 390; H. Preston, 295, (95), 390; C. Pickering, 292, (97), 389; D. P. Donald, 294, (94), 388. In ' the ladies’ championship, Mrs King had a comfortable win with the score of 294, Mrs Henderson being run-ner-up nine points away. The B grade champion proved to be W. Dornan whose score of 296 is easily a record for this year. L. H. Carter, who is a shot did very well in winning the junior title, scoring 287. Supper and the presentation of trophies by Mr R. J. King, brought the season to a conclusion. The following is the complete list of the trophy winners:—Club championship and R. V. Mason’s immature, P. Russell; runner-up, H. V. Donald’s trophy, H. Donald’s trophy,V. E. Donald. Season’s aggregate, A grade (Smith Cup), D. P. Donald; season’s aggregate, B grade (Cross Cup), F. Seward; interclub teams’ shield, D. P. Donald. Ladies’ championship:—First prize (Mr V. E. Donald’s trophy), Mrs King; second prize (Miss Olliver’s trophy), Mrs Henderson; third prize, trophy, Miss Olliver; fourth prize (Mr L. Renall’s trophy), Miss Dixon; fifth prize, trophy, Miss Hubball; sixth prize, trophy, Miss Stevenson.
