POLICY OF HUNGARY

IN EVENT OF EUROPEAN CONFLICT V/ILL AIM AT REMAINING NEUTRAL NO UNDERSTANDING REACHED WITH GERMANY (Recd This Dav. 12.30 p.m.) BUDAPEST, September 1. If any European conflict broke out Hungary’s aim should be to remain neutral. M. Imredy told the “Daily Telegraph-s" Budapest correspondent. He added that no understanding regarding future co-operation between Germany and Hungary had been reached during Admiral Horthy’s visit to Berlin. Germany had not attempted to exercise economic pressure on Hungary, cn ihe contrary, Hungary’s bargaining power was considerable, as Germany needs Hungarian markets for her industrial products and depends on Hungary for a large proportion of her food supply.
