DAIRY PRICES
POSSIBLE VARIATION. GOVERNMENT ASKED TO DEFINE ATTITUDE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A definition of the Government’s attitude toward possible variations in this season”s’ guaranteed price for dairy products was sought by Mr A. C. A. Sexton (Independent, Franklin), in giving notice of a question addressed to the Minister of Marketing, the Hon. W. Nash, in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr Sexton drew attention to the power vested in the Government to reduce the guaranteed price by Order-in-Council and asked whether the Minister would give an indication as to whether the price, once fixed for the current season, was likely to be reduced if during that period there was a recession in the sterling price of dairy produce. Mr Sexton also asked for an assurance that the price fixed for the season would not be lowered, and further inquired whether, if an alteration was considered necessary, the Minister would give an assurance that he would be guided only by the specific considerations in the Act governing the manner in which prices for export dairy products were to be fixed.
