WAR IN SPAIN
OPEN FRONTIER SOUGHT BY GOVERNMENT ITALY STILL HELPING FRANCO FLOW OF TROOPS AND MATERIAL (Recd This Day, 1.15 p.m.) LONDON, August 31. The “Daily Telegraph” says the Spanish Government is urging London, Paris and other capitals to secure the reopening of the French Pyrenees frontier in the hope of removing the last pretext against the withdrawal of Italian forces. Italy is still despatching troops and material to General Franco. REBEL CLAIM LOYALIST ATTACK REPULSED (Recd This Day, 1.15 p.m.) BURGOS, August 31. The rebels claim to have repulsed loyalist attacks on the Estremadura front, killing 800 and. taking 250 prisoners.
