GAMING CHARGES
OLD OFFENDER BEFORE COURT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, August 31. On a charge of using premises as a common gaming-house, Arthur Owen was fined £75 when he appeared before Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., today. The police said that between 1917 and 1935 Owen had been convicted 15 times for offences under the GamingAct and had paid a total of £950 in fines. BROTHERS FINED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, August 31. Two brothers, James Grant and John Robertson Grant, on charges of using premises occupied by them as a common gaming-house, were convicted and fined £25 between them and costs.
