In an article in the “Army and Navy Journal,” Mr Claude A. Swanson, Secretary of the Navy, reveals that the fleet will comprise 272 fighting ships, totalling 1,517,480 tons, including 18 battleships, 18 heavy cruisers, 28 light cruisers, eight aircraftcarriers, 144 destroyers, and 56 submarines.
