GUN DOG TRIALS
NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. COMMENCE SATURDAY AT „ MASTERTON. The event to draw the most entries in point of numbers and which will be a centre of great interest at the Gun Dog Trials on Saturday, on Mr H. Nee’s property, Opaki Road, will be the North Island All Breed Championship, run over both land and water. In this trial, the dogs will be commanded to range the hillside, find the game, sit to shot, and retrieve the game, followed by a water trial, in which command, marking and retrieving out of a dense swamp will be the chief features. The winner will emerge as the dog gaining the highest aggregate points in both land and water sections. The North Island Setter and Pointer Championship is to be run entirely on land, and should provide much interest, chiefly on account of the interesting work usually shown by these dogs. Although in the field Setters and Pointers, specialists for the most part in locating game, will at the coming trials be called upon to both find and retrieve.
