A TOWN GATEWAY
MAKING RENALL STREET ATTRACTIVE. (To the Editor.) i Sir, —As one of the several entrances to Masterton, Renall Street has a peculiar characteristic —the railway line, where trains pass at full speed, crosses it. In the development of the surrounding lands it is evident that the owners have recognised this and extended the street 66ft by open areas and so shaped the areas as to be potential beauty spots. As an occasional passer-by, I wonder if our Borough Council is copying the foresight thus made evident. If a single Borough councillor could, as a hobby, make this a beauty spot, the result should be excellent. We have employed in the Park nine men, presumably experts', all citizens-of Masterton. Some of these would enjoy being in the hobby and we would all benefit. The councillor could expect lots of advice, some help, a share of criticism and a lot of pleasure. I am, etc, C. E. D. Masterton, August 31.
