RULE OF THE ROAD

GIVING WAY TO TRAFFIC ON RIGHT. QUESTION IN MAGISTRATE’S COURT. 1 (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The question of how long a motorist should wait to allow traffic on his right to proceed at an intersection was raised in the Magistrate’s Court today. This problem occurred every Saturday afternoon at the conclusion of sports fixtures, said the Magistrate, Mr E. C. Lewy. Raymond W. Wilson was the motorist charged, and his excuse, according to the Chief Traffic Inspector, was that he thought High Street traffic "had had a fair go.” “After all, the motorist cannot be expected to wait indefinitely while other chaps go on,” commented the Magistrate, who added that he would dismiss the charge on payment of costs.
