THE PRIME MINISTER

FAREWELLED AT AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 29. Looking very much better in health than when he arrived at Auckland on August 20, the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon M. J. Savage, left on his return to Wellington by the afternoon express. Mr Savage was accompanied by the Minister of Mines, the Hon P. C. Webb and members of his staff. A crowd of about 200 people, including personal friends and a number oi leading representatives of Labour interests in Auckland, . assembled at Auckland railway station to bid farewell to Mr Savage. He was kept busy before the train left shaking hands with friends and signing a of autograph-books, including some presented by children. He boarded the train at the last minute, and as it left the platform cheers were given. Many personal visitors were received by Mr Savage at the Hotel Cargen this morning, but he did no official business. Mr Savage mentioned before leaving that he was feeling better than he had been for some time, and that he was returning refreshed to take over his official duties. He had appro-' ciated the past week’s rest and intended to have a further period of leisure about Christmas time.
