PRE-WEDDING FUNCTIONS
BRIDE-TO-BE ENTERTAINED. Two delightful parties were held recently in Wellington in honour of Miss Edna Carpenter, whose marriage to Mr Charles Secord, of Wanganui, took place at Masterton last Saturday. Mrs S. Cross, of Paekakariki, entertained a number of friends at a very enjoyable “bathroom afternoon.” The Government Life Insurance staff also gave a kitchen tea party from 5 o’clock to 7- o’clock for Miss Edna Carpenter. At both these parties the guest of honour was the recipient of many useful presents. Prior-, to Miss Carpenter leaving the Government Life Insurance Department, where she was employed for a number of years, she was presented with a silver tea service. Another farewell party was given by Mrs E. Physick, of Masterton, at her residence on August 20, when Miss Edna Carpenter was entertained at “a gift and pantry” evening, at which Miss Carpenter received many beautiful and useful gifts, accompanied by the good wishes of all present for her future happiness.
