SAFE AT WESTPORT
THE DREDGE KERIMOANA. ROUGH PASSAGE ACROSS TASMAN.- ' (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WESTPORT, This Day. Bound from Glasgow to Wellington, the little ninety-two ton grab hopper dredge Kerimoana arrived at Westport yesterday afternoon, after an eventful voyage from Newcastle, Australia, at which port she had called to bunker and take in provisions before proceeding on to Wellington. The voyage across the Tasman was the worst for fifteen years, according to a member of the crew. At times all on board thought their last moment had come. The dredge sheltered at Cape Farewell for three days and was unable to buffet her way to Wellington, necessitating a journey to Westport, the entrance to which was reached on Sunday evening. The dredge waited outside until yesterday afternoon, when Captain Tointon, Harbourmaster, piloted her irt. Flying an overseas flag, the vessel attracted a crowd of spectators as she started up the river and berthed.
