WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
4 MEETING AT KOPUARANGA. At the monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute held recently Mrs S. J. Clarke presided over a good attendance of members. Members stood for two minutes in silence in memory of Mrs J. C. D. Crewe and Mrs Hewitt. A report’ on the Conference was given by Mrs Jarrett. Visitors were present from the Bush-Wairarapa executive. It was decided to conduct a “bring and buy” stall at the September meeting. Books from the Upper Plain Women’s Institute were donated to the Institute to start a library. The roll call was “How to keep cool.” Competitions resulted as follows: — Organdie throwover, Mrs Evans 1, Mrs Kenny 2, Miss Wright 3. Best bloom: Mrs Donald 1, Miss -Fenemor 2, Mrs Kenny 3. Gems: Miss Wright 1, Mrs Wright 2, Mrs Donald 3. A garden talk was given by Mrs Kenny, great interest being taken by visitors and members in her remarks. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Donald, Mrs Jarrett and Miss McKenzie. The meeting was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
