Mrs E. J. Poole, of Pahiatua, is visiting Wellington.. Mrs J. B. Dalziell, Tinui, is visiting Sydney. Miss Betty Laing, Tinui, is on a holiday visit to Wellington. Miss Margaret Mace, Havelock North, is visiting Masterton. Mrs W Day, College Street, Masterton, is visiting Lower Hutt. Mrs T. F. Watson, Lansdowne, has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mr and Mrs G. G. Tolhurst and family have returned from a visit to Titahi Bay. Dr and Mrs N. H. Prior and family, Perry Street, Masterton, are visiting Auckland. Mrs R. Garland and family, Nursery Road, Masterton, are staying at Paraparaumu Beach. Mrs L. T. Daniell and family, Akura, are spending the school holidays at Paraparaumu Beach. Mrs M. Cleghorn, Pownall Street, Masterton, is spending the school holiday term in Hawke’s Bay. Mrs J. Colway, Masterton, has arrived at Wanganui to stay for several weeks.' Miss H. Ross, of Auckland, and formerly of Konini, is visiting the latter place as the guest of 'Miss C. Verry. Mrs Ginders and Miss Ockenden, who have been staying with Miss Hogg, Church Street, Masterton, have returned to Wellington. Mrs F. J. Parker, of the Methodist Parsonage, Masterton, left for Auckland on Wednesday, answering an urgent call, on account of the serious illness of her mother. — Nurse Rita Morison, of Greytown, who went to England recently to further her studies, has been appointed to the staff of the Hammersmith Hospital.
Miss Betty Ness, The Terrace, Lansdowne, has accepted a position with Messrs W. D. and H. O. Wills Ltd., Wellington, and will commence her new duties on Monday, September 5. Mrs A. McPhee,- a resident of Carterton for some, years, who has been on the teaching staff of the Greytown School, has received an appointment to the staff of the Wilford School, Lower Hutt. FEATHERSTON (“Times-Age” Special.) The friends of Mr and Mrs F. Hood, Kahutara, will regret to hear that their daughter, Phyllis, is seriously ill in Kelvin Hospital. Yesterday afternoon members of the Kahutara branch of the Women’s Institute entertained Mrs W. Russell to afternoon Yea. Mrs McKenna (president) asked Mrs Russell- to accept a case of spoons, the handles of which bore the badge of the Institute, and also a silver serviette ring for Baby Russell. Posies from junior and senior members were presented to Mrs Russell by Miss Joan Hood. Miss D. Chisholm recited, and Miss Aitkinson, a visitor to the district, gave a vocal item. Games and competitions were most enjoyed.
PIRINOA (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr and Mrs D. L. Bell were recent visitors to Wellington. Miss Mona Te Whaiti is the guest of Mr and Mrs W. Karaitiana, Featherston. Miss Dorothy Duffy, who had been visiting relatives in Nelson, has returned home. Miss Queenie Te Maari has been removed to hospital suffering from pneumonia.
