RECOVERY IN U.S.A. WELCOMED CONTRAST TO EUROPEAN OUTLOOK. SOME RISE IN GILT-EDGED STOCKS. (Recd This Day, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, August 26. Tangible evidence of recovery in the United States has come as a welcome contrast to European political news and the unsettled outlook in home trade. Industrial shares fluctuated narrowly. Gilt-edged securities are more than usually quiet, but moderate buying carried prices above last week’s levels.
