SIXTEEN PERSONS KILLED IN JAFFA POLICE FIRE ON ATTACKING ARABS BRIGADES FIGHTING FIRES By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, 9.35 a.m.) JERUSALEM, August 26. It is officially stated that sixteen persons were killed and thirty injured at Jaffa by a bomb explosion, subsequent to sniping, stoning and arson. The police fired on Arabs attacking police stations and banks, troops checking looting. The Jaffa and Tel Aviv fire brigades are fighting a series of outbreaks. Shops and banks, are closed, but the situation is easing. PARTITION COMMISSION (Recd This Day, 10.35 a.m.) RUGBY, August 26. The Palestine Partition Commission heard evidence in private from Sir A. Wauchope (retiring High Commissioner) and Mr Colin Ealy, assistant director of the Colt Archaeological Expedition.
