YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB
ANNUAL BALL HELD LAST NIGHT OUTSTANDING SUCCESS More than 500 dancers were present at the second annual ball of the Masterton Young Farmers’ Club in the Municipal Hall last night. The hall was effectively decorated with greenery on the walls and stage, and there were some good lighting effects. All arrangements were complete to the smallest detail, a fact which reflected great credit on the joint secretaries, Messrs K. H. Donovan and J. H. Wright, and members of the committee. -The music was provided by Udy’s’ Orchestra. During the supper interval the Young Farmers’ Club Orchestra ably played the dance music. The success of the ball, which exceeded all expectations, was due mainly to the co-operation shown by the club members, who so sportingly helped with the decorations and supper arrangements. Mrs W. James, wife of the president of the district committee was in charge of the supper and she was ably assisted by club members. Early in the evening opportunity was taken by the president, Mr James, to present Mr D. McGregor, club chairman, with the “Point Blank” Cup. Miniatures were presented to the winners of the stock judging competitions as follow:—Messrs D. McGregor, K. McGillivray, J. S. Mackay, C. A. Mackay, G. Blatchford, K. Donovan, W. Perry, H. Miller and H. McKenzie (Carterton). In accepting the cup Mr McGregor issued a challenge to all Wairarajv clubs to see if they could win the cup next year, as the Masterton Club had held it for two years in succession.
