ORDER DEFIED
NAZIS AND CATHOLICS BISHOP REFUSES TO LEAVE DIOCESE VIOLATION OF OBLIGATIONS ALLEGED By Telegraph—Pfess Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, 10.5 a.m.) BERLIN, August 25. The Bishop of Rottenburg, who was ordered to leave his diocese, refused, declaring that he could not renounce his duties. It is not known whether he will be forcibly expelled. The Nazis allege that the bishop has insolently violated his political obligations. A cablegram on July 27 quoted the Berlin correspondent of the “The Times” as stating that 5000 Nazi demonstrators, brought to Rottenburg in motor-coaches, broke down the doors of the palace of the Roman Catholic bishop, who is in high disfavour since he explained that he had not voted for the Nazi Party which was sending enemies of the church to the Reichstag. The demonstrators threw documents from the windows,-attempt-ed to set first to the palace, and eventually entered the chapel. Finding the bishop on his knees in prayer, with the Archbishop of Freiburg, they withdrew.
