CARE AT CROSSINGS
CORONER OFFERS ADVICE TO MOTORISTS INQUEST ON COLLISION (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ This Day. “It is quite inexplicable to me why so many motorists fail to exercise reasonable care when approaching railway crossings, which are always a potential danger. All safety precautions will avail nothing if drivers of cars do not have a sense of responsibility for their own safety, and that of the public.”—Thus stated Mr A. J. Graham, coroner, at the -.inquest on Arthur Gray, a farmer, of Long Acre Valley, Wanganui, aged. 36, who was killed when his car collided with a train at a city crossing on July 30. Evidence was given..that Gray passed at the crossing two .stationary cars which were awaiting the passage of the train. A verdict of accidental death was given.
