CONTINUING IN OFFICE TILL OCTOBER IN RESPONSE TO WIDESPREAD APPEALS. EXTENSION IN ACCORDANCE WITH REGULATIONS. (Recd This Day, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, August 23. General Evangeline Booth is continuing office until the end of October, 1939, in response to widespread appeals. A cablegram received by the New Zealand headquarters of the Salvation Army from the international headquarters, London, this morning, states that the extension has been duly carried out in accordance with the Salvation Army regulations governing the retirement of generals.
