GERMANY’S EUROPEAN PLANS ATTEMPT TO GAIN CONTROL OF BALKANS. DR. FUNK’S IMPENDING TOUR. (Recd This Day, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, Augusf23. The “Daily Telegraph’s" Berlin correspondent says Germany is formally launching a trade drive in South-East Europe in September x when Dr Funk (Minister of Economy) is to visit Budapest, Belgrade, Sofia, Bucharest and Athens. The idea is to make Germany an entrepot for Balkan goods, thus placing her at the head of a gigantic economic bloc stretching from the Rhine to the Black Sea. BOURSE WEAKER GENERAL FALL* IN PRICES OF STOCKS (Recd This Day, 11.50 a.m.) BERLIN, August 23. The Bourse is weaker. Falls of two to three per cent are general.
