After being unsteady in the first set, in which the Australians’ difficulty in getting to the net gave the Americans the most points, the Australians settled down. The Australians reached the peak of their form in the second set, displaying terrific volleying. The United States has nominated Budge, Mako, Riggs and Hunt for the Davis Cup contest.
