FEATHERSTON
WOMEN’S DIVISION. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Pahautea Branch was held in the Pahautea hall last Thursday afternoon when Mrs Farquhar presided. Mrs Beu, president of the Greytown Branch; gave an interesting talk on the Conference held in Wellington. Mrs Farquhar thanked Mrs Beu and presented her with a shoulder spray. During the afternoon a “bring and buy” stall was held. The pastry competition was won by Mrs L. Smith. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses Mesdames S. Grant and G. Sadler. SETTLERS FAREWELLED. Mr and Mrs Baker were .the guests of honour at a farewell function held at the residence of Mr and Mrs Rae on Saturday night, when a pleasant time was spent with cards and music. The card tournament winners were Miss Eva Card (ladies), and Mr Lowell (men). Mrs Chas Buck was the lucky number winner. After supper Miss Card asked Mr and Mrs Baker to accept a table lamp with best wishes from their many friends. The Rev Father Carmine expressed regret at the departure of their guests. Mr and Mrs Baker will leave, for Aramoho on Wednesday. AGRICULTURAL CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Featherston Group of the Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Club Mr J. Brophy presided over a good attendance.The balance sheet showed a sound financial position. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr J. Brophy; secretary, Mr J. E. Willett; committee, Miss H. Card (Featherston Home and School Association); Messrs H. C. Playle and H. Harland (Kahautara School Committee), Mr W. H. Sadler (Tauherenikau School Committee), Mesdames A. Lumsden and P. Wilton (South Featherston School Committee), Mr G. T. Cole. Representatives for the Kaiwaiwai . School Committee, Featherston School Committee, and South Featherston Home and School Association have yet to be appointed. Delegates to the Central Committee, Messrs L. Lumsden and H. C. Playle. The group judging will take place at the South Featherston School this year.
