TROTTING CLUB REPORT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual report of the Wairarapa Trotting Club states, inter alia: —“Your stewards have the honour to present the forty-third annual report and balance sheet for the year ended July 31. The Club experienced an unfortunate set-back for its meeting on February 26, 1938,* and the income account discloses a loss of £3OO 3s 2d. The fixtures responsible for this loss were the Gladstone Horse Sports, the picnic which the Prime Minister attended at Tauherenikau and a tennis tournament. The horses competing at this meeting were of a very high class, and our thanks are extended to all owners and trainers of horses who competed. The meeting held on December 27, 1937, was a very successful one in every way. The Club, assisted by various donors, who have our sincere thanks, presented a trotting sulky at each of its meetings. Your stewards recommend two separate day’s racing for the coming season, and propose racing on December 26, 1938 and February 25, 1939. The dates were approved and granted by the Dates Committed', and should be made known to avoid clashing with other sports fixtures in the district. You will be asked to elect seven stewards. Those retiring are: Messrs A. O. Abbott, R. W. Beu, W. J. Fitzgerald, R. Gallon, B. Sewell, K. C. Skeet and R. R. Tilson. All officers and stewards, being eligible, offer their services again. I would like to record the untiring efforts of the vice-presidents, stewards, and your honorary officials and the staff in promoting the welfare of the Club. The membership stands at 130 members for the whole of the Wairarapa—this is a very small membership. This phase of the Club’s activities should be prosecuted until the number is doubled. Members are asked to use their , influence in this direction.” PERSONAL ITEMS. . Mrs Wilfred Grigg and family, of Kuratawhiti Street, are spending theschool holidays in Wellington. Mr G. Rhodes and Mr R. Eaton have’ joined the Greytown Fire Brigade. SITTING OF S.M. COURT. The monthly sitting of the Magistrates Court will be held at Greytown oh Wednesday. FIRE BRIGADE RE-UNION. , The Grey town Volunteer Fire Brigade has decided to hold a re-union on Saturday,. October 1. The function will take the form of'a farewell to Superintendent W. Gates.
