HEEP FROM OUTSIDE

SYRIAN AND LEBANESE SYMPATHISERS. GERMAN ARMS AND AMMUNITION . SEIZED. (Recd This Day, 1.20 p.m.) LONDON, August 22. The Geneva correspondent of “The Times” says the minutes of the last meeting of the Mandates Commission state that there is clear evidence that Syrian Arabs are assisting the Palestinian terrorists, but no conclusive proof of help from farther afield. Most of the rifles seized, however, have been German Mausers of the 1937 pattern, while recently small quantities of new German ammunition have been seized in Syria and Palestine. The entire Arab population of Syria and Lebanon sympathises with the Palestinian Arabs and has assisted gangsters and arms smugglers crossing the border.
