TRADE CYCLE
STATEMENT TO THE BRITISH ASSOCIATION INDICATIONS OF REPETITION OF LAST SLUMP. ARMAMENTS MAKING MINOR DIFFERENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, 9.55 a.m.) LONDON, August 22. Sir William Beveridge, chairman of Unemployment Insurance _ Statutory Committee, told the British Association conference that the history of the first stages of the last depression is being repeated in the textile manufacturers, leading to a recession. Examination of the course of unemployment showed that all industries were affected by cyclical fluctuations. A striking measure of agreement between the onset of the 1930 depression and the beginning of present recession was subject to minor differences, like armaments. The harvest influence apparently is a factor in the trade cycle.
