AUSTRALIAN WOOL
A LIGHTER CLIP. PREDICTED FOR THIS YEAR. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 22. A lighter wool clip in Australia this year was predicted by Mr C. W. Russell, a prominent grazier of Queensland, who passed through Auckland en route to San Francisco by the Mariposa. He said sheep were generally cutting 81b of wool, compared with 101 b last season, the reason being the long, hot and dry spell experienced, specially within a distance of the Queens-land-New South Wales border. “Coming on top of the heavy losses of sheep caused by the drought, the lighter clip will be a severe blow to farmers,” Mr Russell added.
