MEN’S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP. (“Times-Age” Special.) The first round of the senior championship was played on Saturday under good conditions over 18 holes. The results were: J. C. Feast beat E. Maddison, 1 up; H. E. Webster beat T.R.. Ingley, 1 up; B. Kiernan beat H. R. Feast, 2 up; H. W. Feast beat A. H. Bull, 3 up. The game, between J. C. Feast and E. Maddison was watched with great interest, and the issue was in doubt till the last hole, when Maddison pulled his drive into the trees. T. R. Ingley extended H. E. Webster, last year’s champion, right to the last hole. WAIWETU v GREYTOWN. „ Waiwetu Golf Club paid their return visit to Greytown on Sunday. The weather conditions were ideal and the course was in splendid order. Wai-, wetu won the fourball by 6 games to 3, with three games all square, and also won the singles by 13 games to 9, with one game all square. The visitors were entertained at lunch at the club’ house. The following were the results, Waiwetu players being mentioned first in each instance;— £ Fourball.—Holland and Wilson lost to J. C. The results of the championship games were: —Senior.—Mrs Thompson defeated Mrs Maddison; Mrs Bunny defeated Mrs Balfour; Miss E. Gregor defeated Mrs Horner. Junior: Mrs Jury defeated Miss B. Gregor; Miss M. Collier defeated Miss I. Collier; Miss N. Bouzaid defeated Miss B. Haigh. The best scores for the medal round and points gained for the Challenge Cup were: —Silver medal, Mrs Thompson 90-10-80, 2J points; Miss E. Gregor 99-17-82, 1 point; Mrs Maddison 100-17-83. Bronze medal.—Mrs 'J. Jury 100-20-80, 2J points; Miss M. Collier 107-24-83.
