BASKETBALL
NEW ZEALAND DEFEATED BY AUSTRALIA MELBOURNE, August 20. Playing under Australian rules today, the All-Australia basketball team defeated New Zealand, 40-11. The Australians’ play was characterised by sure shooting, and, although the New Zealanders had an equal part of the play, their forwards were penalised for progression. The Australian / team was: Miss Douglas (captain), Miss McConchie (vice-captain), Miss Good, Miss Eckhart, Miss Wood, Miss Richter, Miss Linton. Miss Richter injured a knee and was replaced by Miss Medcalf. The New Zealand team was: Miss Matangi (captain), Miss Mitchell (vice-captain). Miss Martin, Miss Howe, Miss Wilson, Miss Neame, Miss Howard.
The New Zealand team will leave on Sunday for Sydney to catch the Maunganui for Auckland.
