TOUR POSTPONED

PRIME MINISTER SLIGHTLY ' INDISPOSED. RESTING IN AUCKLAND FOR A WEEK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 21. A slight indisposition of the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon M. J. Savage, has resulted in a postponement of his tour of northern electorates, which was to have begun tomorrow. Mr Savage was examined by a doctor ‘shortly after his arrival from Wellington by train on Saturday morning and, acting on medical advice, he has agreed to rest in Auckland for a week, during which he will fulfil no official engagements or receive deputations. Immediately on arrival at his hotel on Saturday, Mr Savage went to bed. He was thoroughly examined, and it was stated today that, although there was nothing fundamentally wrong with his health, it was essential that he should relax for a week. A substantial improvement in Mr Savage’s condition was apparent today. The following official statement was issued on Saturday: “It is with regret that the Prime Minister has found it necessary, owing to slight indisposition, to postpone for the time being his forthcoming tour of the North Auckland district. Mr Savage stated that he was keenly disappointed at not being able to carry out the programme which he had arranged for next week and to which he had been looking forward. He hoped, however, that the postponement of the trip would be for a short time only. He trusted that in the circumstances he would be forgiven for any inconvenience which might have been caused to those people who had been good enough to make arrangements for his reception at various centres.” “This is the one time that I am going to do as I am told,” Mr Savage said today, in announcing his intention of following his doctor’s advice strictly Mr Savage will probably leave for Wellington next weekend.
