DATE NOT YET FIXED. STATEMENT BY MR SAVAGE. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 20. No date has yet been fixed for the general election, according to. a statement made today by the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon M. J. Savage. He said the Government had not yet discussed the date. The Prime Minister said those who were picking the day quite obviously knew more than he did. It was clear that if those who were guessing named every day of the week then they were bound to strike the right,one, but nothing had yet been decided. '
