ROAD CYCLING
WAIRARAPA CLUB’S RACE. W. GAY GAINS FIRST PLACE. After having secured a third and a second in two of the last. three races W. Gay put up a splendid performance on Saturday to record his first win. The race was over a distance of 20 miles starting and finishing at Second Street, Lansdowne, the course being to Mount Bruce School and return. Results are as follow: —W. Gay (SJmin.), 1; L. Green (smin.), 2; B. Dooling (smin.), 3. Fastest time: C. Dykes (2min.), 50 min. 59secs., 1; J. Brader (2min.), 50 min. 59 2-ssecs., 2; M. Graham (3min.), 51min. 59 l-ssecs„ 3. Next week the club will hold a race over a course to the Blairlogie Hotel and return, a distance of 32 miles, starting and finishing at the Lansdowne hockey grounds. Two years ago the Masterton Club held a race over this course in wintry conditions, only two of the 11 starters completing the course. Mr A. J. Allison, one of the Wairarapa Club’s keenest supporters, has presented a cup for this race.
