FEILDING SALE GOOD PRICE LEVEL (By Telegraph —Press Association.) FEILDING, August 19. There was a steady demand at Feilding stock sale and a good price level was maintained. Fat sheep sold readily at values well up to last week, and for store lambs there was a keen inquiry. There was nothing very attractive on sale in the store cattle section, but some well-finished heifers and cows met keen competition in the beef department. Quotations were:-r-Sheep: Extra prime lambs, 275; prime, 20s 6d to 22s 6d; lighter, 18s to 19s Gd; others, 14s 3d to 17s 7d; primest wethers, 28s 9d to 30s 6d; lighter prime, 26s 6d to 28s; average sorts, 25s to 265; light, 245; shorn wethers, 22s 3d to 22s lOd; good ewe hoggets, 31s 9d to 33s 7d; second quality, 27s 4d to 31s Id; best wether hoggets, 20s to 21s 7d; smaller, 17s; culls, 12s 2d; good twotooth ewes, 36s 3d; inferior, 23s 3d; best mixed aged ewes, 30s 8d; others, 28s 4d; four and five-year-- ditto, 25s 6d; five and six-year ditto, 21s; aged ditto, 15s. Cattle: Boner cows, heavy, £3 10s to £4 12s Gd; light, £1 5s to £3 ss; weaner heifers, £1 15s to £1 19s; empty heifers, £3 4s to £3 17s 6d; yearling steers, £2 10s to £3 16s; yearling bulls, £2 7s 6d; heifers, in milk, £6; cows in milk, £4 to £7 15s; springing heifers, good, £8 10s to £9 15s; others, £4 5s to £8; springing cows, £5 10s to £8 10s; P.A. cows, medium, heavy, £7 2s 6d to £7 15s; others, from £6 10s; P.A. heifers, medium weights, £7 7s 6d to £8; lighter, £los to £7 3s 6d; prime ox, £l2 2s Gd to £l2 15s; ex dairy cows, £5 to £7. Pigs: Weaners, 14s 6d to £1 3s; slips, IGs to £1 12s; stores, £1 10s to £1 15s; porkers, £2 Is; sows, £4 Is Gd. CARTERTON SALE PIGS SELL WELL Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd report as follow:—A small yarding of pigs and a big yarding of dairy cattle came forward at Carterton sale yesterday. Owing to the small yarding, pigs sold exceptionally well. Springing cows and heifers sold on a par with late rates, buyers showing discretion and competing freely only on the best lots. Good conditioned empty cows were keenly sought after. Prices were as follow: — Cattle: —Three-year Ayrshire heifers on drop (good), £6 15s to £10; Jersey heifers, on drop, £6 to £7 15s; springing Jersey heifers, £4 to £6 10s; Jersey heifers, just calved, £5 to £6 10s; springing Jersey cows, £5 to £6 15s; cows, just calved, £4 12s Gd to £6; fat cows, £4 15s to £6 12s; forward cows, £3 Is; to £4 10s; store cows, £1 12s to £2 16s; cows and calves, to £5 3s.
