LABOUR PARTY

DANCE AND EUCHRE TOURNEY. The first of a series of fortnightly social evenings, conducted under the auspices of the Masterton branch of the Labour Party was held in the Y.M.C.A. last night, and taking the form of a dance and euchre tournament, which were held in separate halls in the building. A most enjoyable evening was spent, the function proving most successful. The winners of the card tournament were Mrs Vaughan and Mr Watson, the Monte Carlo winners being Mrs Lehmstedt and Mr Stevenson. Music was supplied by Mr Barnes's Orchestra, Mr R. Wilton acting as M.C. Supper was served by the ladies' committee.under the leadership of Mrs E. Watson. The committee have decided to hold a similar function on Thursday September 1, and arrangements are well in hand to make it most enjoyable.
