Miss Ashwell, of Short Street, Masterton, has returned from a visit to Wanganui. Miss T. McKenzie, Short Street, Masterton, is spending a holiday in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Fred Brough, Wairarapa will leave shortly for a holiday visit to Australia. Mrs J. McAnulty and Miss McAnulty, of Eketahuna. are on a visit to Auckland. Mr and Mrs S. Cooper, Taueru, returned this week from a holiday visit to Christchurch. Miss Nancy Greathead, of Eketahuna, is on a motor tour of the North Island. Mrs Algar Williams has returned to Featherston from a visit to Christchurch. Miss J. Gardiner, of Pahiatua, is the guest of her aunt, Mrs R. McGovern) Rangitumau. Mrs Shirtcliffe, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs H. G. Alexander, Masterton, has returned to the South Island. The many Wairarapa friends of Mrs (Dr) Johnston, of Sumner, will regret to learn that she is confined to bed suffering from a severe illness. A fine evening, a cheerful room, gs~ with bowls of spring flowers and a bright fire, combined with a large gathering of old girls, made the Solway Old Girls’ party, which was held recently in the lounge of the Y.W.C.A.. Boulcott Street, Wellington, a most successful affair. The guests were entertained with original and amusing competitions. A delicious savoury supper provided an opportunity for general reminiscences and concluded a happy evening. d

ENGAGEMENT.

The engagement is announced of Harold Hugh Vavasour, fifth son of the late H. D. Vavasour, and of Mrs Vavasour, of “Ugbrooke,” and Margery, eldest daughter of Mr Harold Goulter, and the late Mrs Goulter, of “Blairich,” Marlborough.
