PAYMENT OF DOCTORS

RATE OF 15s PER HEAD SUGGESTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day., All doctors in New Zealand will have an assured financial position under the Government’s health scheme, according to statements made by Mr J. G. Barclay (Government, Marsden) during the second reading debate on the Social Security Bill in the House of Representatives yesterday. The suggestion was that doctors should be paid at the rate of 15s a year per head of population, said Mr Barclay. That was the figure which had been mentioned, although it could not be said definitely that it would be the sum finally.determined. However, the suggested rate of payment was well in advance of the proposed Australian rate of Us a head of population. If the doctors received 15s a head they would receive more than they were getting at present, so that they would not be losing anything by the scheme.
