A letter was received from the secretary of the Milk Supply, Wairarapa Schools Committee, advising that the executive of that body was actively persuing ways and means of introducing the scheme ‘into the Wairarapa schools. The Masterton Dairy Co was still interested, and as soon as the problem of finance was overcome the scheme would be put into operation. MEMORIAL TREE. It is generally known that the late Mr William Benton in his later years gave a lot of his spare time to the cultivation of native trees and shrubs, among which he had succeeded in rearing a splendid specimen of rimu (red pine), of which he was justly proud. It had attained a height of about eight feet. The local Lodge of Odd Fellows (of which Mr Benton was a member) decided to get possession of this tree, and transfer it to a site at the rear of the Lodge Room, with a view to providing a roomy area in which it could grow 'and develop in years to come, and so be a lasting memorial to Mr Benton’s lifetime work in the interest of the lodge. This scheme has been successfully accomplished. f CARD TOURNAMENT.
