Checked at the Yangtse Valley, the Japanese are developing an offensive in Southern Shansi, towards the Yellow River, in an attempt to reach Hankow from the north. The Chinese claim that they have repeatedly repulsed attacks at Kuling, inflicting severe casualties on the Japanese. Bubonic plague has broken out at Fukien.
