It is expected that the Cabot, the first of eight strengthened Empire fly-ing-boats, now under construction for Imperial Airways, will emerge very soon from the factory. She and her sister craft can be loaded to a gross weight of 53,0001 bs —12,5001bs more than the standard Empire flying-boats —and may be fuelled in mid-air. They are to be employed in trans-Atlantic flights and over the Tasman Sea, between Australia and New Zealand. The Cabot is listed to make two return flights between England and New York, by way of Foynes, Botwood and Montreal, before the end of October.
