RUGBY IN FIJI
MAORI TEAM DEFEATS EUROPEANS. SUVA. August 17. The New Zealand Maoris Rugby football team defeated the Suva Europeans today 17-6. The Maoris were not extended against a weak side, but their play was characterised by the slowness of the backs and wild passing. It was below the standard of a representative side and much improved form will be necessary against the first Fijian team in Saturday’s Test. The Maoris are feeling the effects of the hard ground and are nursing injured players. Scorers today were Kutia (two tries), Hohopata (one). Wirepa converted one try and kicked two penalties. Suva kicked two penalties.
