PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS

THE PRAM PUSHER’S POINT OF VIEW. (To the Editor.) Sir, —Re the remarks of Councillor Ninnes, and our Mayor, Mr Jordan, I would like them to push a pram, and at the same time have three or four toddlers hanging on to their skirts (or shall I say trousers?) and try and cross Queen Street. Councillor Ninnes would very soon be willing to 'go the whole hog, but a person using common sense would realise that enough is sufficient. I heartily agree with Councillors Russell, Gardner and Morice and hope they continue to battle for what is long overdue. If it is the desire to have the cars pass through Queen Street as quickly as possible, why is the Queen Street kerbing lined with cars from about 11 a.m. until 5.30 p.m.? Is this allowed? I thought parking time in Queen Street was 45 minutes. —I am, etc., PRAM PUSHER.
