W.E.A. Lectures.
The interesting series of lectures on international affairs, by Mr A. S. Hely, will be continued tonight in the Lecture Room of the Municipal Building at 8 o’clock. His subject, “The Far East,” is of special interest to New Zealand, as, being near neighbours of Japan, we are vitally concerned. The danger to New Zealand of the so-called “Yellow Peril” will be discussed by the lecturer. Motor Cyclist’s Death.
A rider exonerating the driver of a motor lorry which collided with a motor cycle ridden by William Vernon Amies, copper-worker, aged 21, in the Mount Victoria traffic tunnel, Wellington, on August 6, was added to the verdict when the inquest into Amies’s death was concluded yesterday. The coroner, Mr E. Gilbertson, found that Amies died in the Wellington Public Hospital on August 6, having received multiple injuries when riding his motor-cycle and colliding with a motor-lorry driven by Walter Alfred Brown in the Mount Victoria traffic tunnel.
