TARANAKI CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY OKAIAWA (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ELTHAM, August 17. Before a crowd of well over a thousand on a good ground and under perfect conditions, Okiawa defeated Stratford, 15-7, in the final match for the Taranaki Rugby Union championship. It was a fast and open game with Okaiawa slightly on top of last year’s champions. For Okaiawa the scorers were Oaks and Toro (tries), Meuli, a field goal, and a penalty. He also converted a try. The Stratford points scored were a field goal by Collins, and a penalty goal by Adlan. Okaiawa last won the Taranaki championship in 1932.
