PERSONAL.
Mr Gilbert C. Gaze, of the staff of “Point Blank,” Wellington, has been appointed to-the advertising staff of the "Times-Age,” and will take up his new duties on Monday. ‘ Mr G. L. Hogben, Auckland, one of this year’s two Rhodes Scholars, left Auckland yesterday for England by the motor-ship Essex, on which he is to serve as ship’s writer for the voyage Home. On his arrival in England, Mr Hogben, who is the son of Mr Julius Hogben, will enter Oxford University. There was a representative attendance of mourners at the funeral of the late Mrs Hannah Moor, which took place at the Masterton Cemetery yesterday. Among many others, wreaths were sent by the Y.M.C.A. Ladies’ Auxiliary, Knox Ladies’ Guild, P. and T. Department, and the employees of Messrs Donald and Sons. The pallbearers were Messrs F. Hoar, A. Summers, T. Oakly and F. Clark. The death occurred at Stratford last Saturday of Mr Angus Fraser, a wellknown early resident of Masterton. The late Mr Fraser, who was 86 years of age, was born in Scotland and came out to New Zealand many years ago. He carried on a business as a contractor in Masterton for several years, and about thirty years ago went farming in Taranaki. His wife, who was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Morris, of Homebush, Masterton, predeceased him eight years ago. The late Mr Fraser is survived by a/family of one son (Mr J. M. Fraser) and two daughters (Mesdames C. Evatts and A. Smith, of Taranaki), and seven grandchildren.
The death has occurred at Featherston of Mr Barry Squance Yelverton, at the age of 73 years. The late Mr Yelverton was born at Nelson and at an early age went to Featherston with his family, remaining a resident of that town until his death. Foi- many years he was engaged in the coaching and carrying business, and served several terms on the Featherston Town Board in the years before the war. Mr Yelverton was a great-great-grandson of Barry Yelverton, Ist Viscount Avonmore, and on the death of the 6th Viscount in 1910 he became heir to the title. Unfortunately no property went with the title, and Mr Yelverton preferred his plain family name as being more serviceable for a poor man. He is succeeded as heir to the title by his only remaining brother, Foster Goring Yelverton, of Featherston. An only surviving sister is Mrs Harry Benton, formerly of the Wairarapa, but now a resident of Napier.
