Provided other local bodies can be induced to contribute, the Masterton Borough Council, at its meeting last night agreed to make an annual contribution of £BO towards the upkeep of the National Art Gallery and Museum. The council also approved of a proposal by the Board of Trustees to secure legislation enabling local bodies to make their annual contributions permanent. Masterton Public Library. The following are the figures for the Municipal Library for the month of July: Books issued: Fiction 3547, travel, etc, 357. Books added: Fiction, 31; travel, etc, 8. Subscribers at end of June, 399; new subscribers, 6; subscribers left during. July 1; total subscribers at end of July 404. Subscriptions collected, £lB 15s; extra books, 11s 9d; fines, 4s 3d. The amount spent in books from April 1 to June 30 was Librarian, £lOB 4s sd;. Committee, £4l 4s lOd. The amount to be spent in books for the month of July'tvas Librarian, £ll 13s sd; Committee, £2 10s Bd.
