GOLD MINING RETURNS
The Mataki Junction dredge return for the fortnight ended August 11 states that 38 ounces of smelted gold were obtained from 12,000 yards dredged in 105 hours’ working. Owing to shortage of water due to freezing of the river and tributaries, seven working days were lost. The Barrytown Dredge return for the first half of August is 333 ounces from 70,000 yards for 182 hours’ working. The Rimu dredge return was 211 oz from 58,395 cubic yards worked in 133} hours.
